EDU 551 - Special Education Law

This course explores the historical and legal foundations of special education, including concepts like free appropriate public education and least restrictive environment requirements. It covers ethical principles, professional standards, and mandated paperwork, focusing on federal, state, and local regulations. Students will gain a comprehensive understanding of educational equity, confidentiality, mandated reporting, and the rights and responsibilities of families and K12 students, ensuring compliance with policies such as IDEA, ADA, and Section 504.
